By Chris Watts

12.5 hours of flying time from Hong Kong to London.
The sound system was faulty and I was getting restless and so too, was my back. Let’s go and see what the cabin crew are up to!

The BA 026 crew soon got wind of my Active Isolated Stretching techniques and put me to full use on this flight. It’s like being back in my clinic. There were a host of sciatic pains, shoulder impingements, mobility issues, you name it they had it. Maybe I should work for BA as they have over 12,000 flight attendants in need of this form of rehabilitation! I was whisked away to the front of the plane where I had the pleasure of meeting Lesley who had shooting pains running down her right side. She was obviously very uncomfortable but like many people she simply chose to either ignore it or simply accept it. Her posture was misaligned and her pelvis was locked along with the rest of the crew.

Here is what Lesley wrote on the BA web-site;

"Isn't life strange sometimes? I've just done a Hong Kong flight and on the way out I was complaining about the aches and pains that I and lots of my colleagues experience. The crew were discussing Sciatica and how so many of us seem to suffer from it. We decided that it was the job itself that makes us prone to injury, strain and aches and pains. Whilst I was in Hong Kong I had a couple of sports massages to help and one of my crew suggested that I did some stretching exercises for my neck and shoulder.

On the flight home we met an angel!  Well, he wasn't an angel but he seemed like it at the time! One of our passengers, Chris Watts got talking and told us about his business. He runs a company called "STRETCH"!! We ended up with him in the galley giving us manipulation and explaining the principles of AIS, Active Isolated Stretching. The results were instant and amazing.

He is about to open a clinic in London but if you are in Hong Kong you might want to visit his place on 73 Wyndham Street. If you are interested he has a website www.stretchasia.com and there is a fantastic video which explains how it works (it's fascinating to see the process carried out on a human)."

One down 12,000 to go!
