Are you standing on your heels, is your head in the correct position on top of the spine, is your pelvis correctly tucked in? Do you feel balanced?

Your body is very much like a chain, it is only as strong as it’s weakest link.
What about that niggly, stabbing, recurring back pain – that has been there for years! What is it that causes it to rear its painful and ugly head?

Your habitual physical and emotional stresses and movement patterns accumulate bit by bit over time, affecting the structure integrity of the joints, which can and will result in chronic pain if you don’t balance the postural symmetry.

By the time the injury becomes chronic, other structures are forced to compensate, leading to further damage and muscular imbalances. If we look statically at someone’s posture in the way they hold themselves up when standing or seated, we should ideally see a symmetry between the left and right side of the their body. When we watch someone in motion we should notice how that person plants their feet on the ground and evaluate the glide of the walking pattern.

Poor postural habits will wear and tear the joint structures especially the cartilage which helps create a smooth glide in the joints.

At Stretch, during the postural assessment we test your alignment, strength and flexibility and use Active Isolated Stretching and strengthening plus other bodywork modalities to help increase energy, decrease pain and prevent further injuries that occur due to poor biomechanics of the body.
