“Stretch” is offering suitable candidates the chance to become a A.I.S. practitioner. 1-3 months of in-house training
Click on the map to enlarge Objectives - When doing the internship with Stretch, we want you to thoroughly learn both the theory and practical aspects of Active Isolated Stretching along with how Stretch operates as a company. At the end of the internship, you will understand and be able to communicate what Active Isolated Stretching is and how it works, and be proficient at giving Active Isolated Stretching treatments. Ideally you will go on to work at Stretch, refining your abilities and continuing your education in advanced Active Isolated Stretching, on the job, treating specific presenting symptoms and learning more about the biomechanics of the human body. Pre-requisites and candidates – To learn Active Isolated Stretching, one needs to have good anatomical understanding of the musculoskeletal system as the technique specifically focuses stretches on isolated muscles. To some degree, an Active Isolated Stretching session is somewhat like a puzzle for the therapist who must decipher symptoms and the presenting body, coming up with a plan of action and then executing that, regularly having to adjust as the body responds and changes. Having excellent knowledge of the human body is essential. Experience in body work will assist this entire process and give candidates the confidence to work with people in this extremely hands on therapy. With this in mind, we have listed on the corresponding mind map possible appropriate candidates that have the above qualities but we appreciate there may be other backgrounds that meet our requirements. Application process – To begin with, if you are interested in training you should send us (via email, fax or mail) your resume with a letter of motivation so we can learn more about you. Depending on where you are in the world, we will either conduct an interview over the phone or at our premises. From this, we hope to find out more details about you, your background, your interests, hobbies and activities, as well as your future goals. If you are selected as a suitable candidate, we will expect you to come to Hong Kong and start training. Training – Actual training requires you to be in the studio at least 300 hours during your internship. You will receive at least 25 hours of formal training with a master trainer and then spend the majority of your time, after that, observing, listening to and assisting senior Stretch therapists. You will have treatments done to you so you know exactly what it feels like and eventually you will practice on selective clients, under supervision of a certified therapist, and on team members themselves. (you are welcome to invite friends and family members to practice on) You will need to keep a log of the hours you attend at the studio and the practical experience you have, logging a minimum of 40 hours of hands on experience. As you will also be trained in the Stretch business model, we will require you to participate in the general running of the business e.g. answering the phone, taking down appointments, routine administration tasks, assisting the marketing team, and attending staff meetings. Assessment at the end of the internship – So that we know you are adequately trained and ready to become a fully fledged Active Isolated Practitioner, we require that you’re assessed in all areas of Active Isolated Stretching. There will be a brief written test on anatomy and physiology just so we can confirm your knowledge as it is so important for Active Isolated Stretching. An oral test will be conducted, probably while you are performing the practical test aspect of Active Isolated Stretching on a team member, ensuring you can explain what Active Isolated Stretching is, does etc, along with doing the technique (done in this way as this tends to be how you work with clients). Finally you will receive an evaluation and constructive feedback for your future progress, and to determine if you are ready to begin work as a Stretch therapist. Costs – As this is such specialised training and unique in Asia there is a cost involved. The initial training/internship is HK $27,000. Benefits of training with Stretch – Training is conducted by qualified, experienced therapists and supervised by Chris Watts, the only certified Active Isolated Stretching instructor in Asia. You will learn the techniques thoroughly and with confidence to treat clients even during your training! After the internship, you will receive recognised qualifications and certification as an Active Isolated Stretching practitioner. We also offer employment opportunities for successful candidates in one of our Stretch Flexibility studios around the world (currently Hong Kong and London, UK). In the case you were offered a positon at Stretch as a Active Isolated Stretching practitionner, and you committed to a 2 year employment contract, we would forfeit the costs of your training. From our experience, after successfully graduating from this certification course and practicing Active Isolated Stretching in our established Hong Kong studio for 12-18 months, you will be have sufficient experience to operate your own studio. We can assist you and provide additional training on our well tried-and-tested administrative, financial and marketing systems to help you in areas where you may be lacking knowledge or experience. |
